Learning Flex

Posted On December 12, 2006 8:47 AM By Phil in

For the past few weeks, I have been cranking through Adobe Press' Flex 2 Training from the Source. While I played with the Beta versions and walked through a few seminar/classes on it, I never got to see a good build from the ground up view of Flex. I'm happy to say that this book has finally given me at least a glimpse into how to build an application from the ground up. I have gotten through most of the basic items and am now getting into the Flex Data Services piece, so I'm excited about that. I also have the Total Training for Adobe Flex 2 videos and am going to work through that as well. When I first learned ColdFusion, I was handed the Ben Forta Web Application Construction Kit and was told to learn the language. While there isn't something similar for Flex, these two books are a good resource. Once I get through them, I'll probably pick the same thing I did to learn CF way back when and build a Flex application for it using these two items as references as well as all the information aggregated at Flex.org. So stay tuned, I'm sure you'll see more Flex related items as time goes on and I reach further into the world of Flex
