ESPN2 HD: Woohooo!

Posted On June 11, 2006 7:52 AM By Phil in Soccer

And just in time for the World Cup. Now, if anyone watched the games yesterday, the England/Paraguay matchup was a disappointment. I expected the game to be like Germany/Costa Rica, but it wasn't. It was a typical international game with both teams settling for the 1-0 result. Now, the other game, tiny Trinidad and Tobago (think a team of the best from Delaware playing against the world) tying Sweden down 1 man for most of the second half. They even had a chance to win, hitting the crossbar mid-way through the second half. The last game was Argentina vs. Ivory Coast. Now, for those that don't know, the Ivory Coast is in the midst of a horrible Civil War, but there has been a cease fire for the duration of the World Cup. Name any other sporting event that can do that? Argentina dominated early, then hung on at the end to take the game 2-1. Anyway, on to another 3 games today (Laurisa is thrilled) and then the U.S. plays tomorrow.
