About Me

My name is Phil Duba and I am a new husband, sports junkie, and software developer. I began my software developer journey almost 8 years ago when my boss at Lockheed Martin handed me Ben Forta's Web Application Construction Kit and said you need to learn how to do this. While ColdFusion is my passion, I am exploring new technologies regularly. Right now, I am concentrating on ASP.NET due to work requirements, but I'm also looking at Flex. Sometime soon I hope to get back into learning more about Java (I have about every Head First book out there, :) and AJAX.

I have lived in the Philadelphia area my whole life. I am a die-hard Flyers fan but I love all Philadelphia sports teams and will watch them over almost everything else, except Navy football (and somehow, I'm being forced to start watching Rutgers football). I currently work for WinMill Software as a Senior Consultant. Prior to that, I worked for two companies, Lockheed Martin and ADP::VirtualEdge. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Science and Engineering in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

About the Icon

Well, first, you can probably see that the colors of my site are mainly navy blue and gold since I am a proud Naval Academy graduate. The icon is based on a tutorial on building a Versus-style log. Versus is the home (for now) of the NHL, Tour de France, and some college football. The tutorial was written for Photoshop but I was able to do it using Fireworks CS3 since that is the only graphics program I use.
